Summary
The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) commissioned Spawforths as town planners and to co-ordinate the submission of two reserved matters applications for the development of two adjacent sites at the former Bentley Colliery in Bentley, Doncaster.
The final scheme, approved by Doncaster MBC, involved a total of 170 dwellings and the design of the scheme was driven by a series of public consultation events and the HCA’s own housing standards required under its Public Land Initiative (PLI). In February 2010, the development was confirmed as one of just six PLI schemes across the country.
