Summary
Prepared as part of the government's Ecotown initiative, the Rossington proposals were for a new balanced mixed community to the south of Doncaster.
The proposals formed a major urban extension to the former mining village of Rossington and focused on a future vision for the settlement. The masterplan included around 5000 new homes, new schools, a revitalised and expanded town centre, new community infrastructure and employment opportunities focused around a low carbon economy.
Although the development was shortlisted down to the final six projects nationally, the project was eventually put on hold due to the economic downturn.
