Denton Town Centre Development

Spawforths secured outline planning permission for a major retail led mixed use development on this former Batteries site in Denton. This town centre brownfield site has lain vacant and is in need of regeneration. The permission is for 165,000ft2 of new non-food retail development, as well as new homes and restaurants and a new Relief Road. We have also secured reserved matters approval for each element and gave evidence at the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) Inquiry to facilitate delivery. Despite the CPO being confirmed, in light of the changing retail market requirements, we have now secured planning permission for an increased area of residential development to kick start the scheme and to enable the Relief Road to be delivered. The final phase will deliver new town centre retailing to reinforce the role of Denton within Greater Manchester.
