Heathlands at City Fields - Application for 334 New Houses

Spawforths, on behalf of Stretton Estates (Wakefield) Ltd, have prepared and submitted a full planning application for 334 dwellings on the former Wakefield B Power Station site at Doncaster Road, Wakefield, now known as “Heathlands at City Fields”.  Determination of this application by the Council is expected by the end of 2016.

This planning application is the first phase of development from the Doncaster Road “Southern Gateway” of the wider City Fields development (formerly known as Wakefield East), Wakefield and will be accessed from the new Wakefield Eastern Relief Road which  is currently under construction with completion anticipated in March 2017. Proposals for a local retail centre on an adjoining plot adjacent to Doncaster Road will be submitted by Spawforths on behalf of Stretton Estates (Wakefield) Ltd to the Council in Autumn 2016, consistent with the City Fields Masterplan.

This proposal will facilitate the regeneration of this part of Wakefield and remediation of the Former Wakefield B Power Station site which has lain dormant since closure and demolition of the cooling towers in 1993.
