We are delighted to see that the Inspector has written to Kirklees Council supporting the proposed allocation at South Dewsbury as a significant Green Belt release. The £1 Billion scheme will deliver in the region of 4,000 new homes across a range of tenures and types and provide a major regeneration catalyst in an area that has suffered in recent years from a lack of significant private sector investment. Spawforths are excited that the Aire River Growth Corridor Masterplan is currently being consulted on by WMDC. The masterplan seeks to transform former industrial brownfield land into new communities for up to 4,500 new homes. The former industrial sites will be transformed and the town centre revitalised. Green, open spaces, free of vehicles, will be created to provide better links between neighbourhoods and more opportunities for walking and cycling in the area. Read more
Spawforths has designed and secured planning permission for the restoration of Featherstone Hall, North Featherstone, a building of local interest in need of significant restoration. Spawforths architectural team designed the sympathetic restoration and conversion of the hall into three dwellings; the restoration of the former coach house; and 11 new dwellings in the grounds of the hall. Spawforths have submitted redevelopment proposals for the Former Parkside Colliery, Newton-le-Willows on behalf of Parkside Regeneration LLP. The proposals push forward the first phase of development to deliver 93,000 m² of B8 floorspace with associated landscaping and infrastructure. Read more
