Our Masterplan for a Riverside Urban Village, approved by Cabinet on 19 March, sets out a vision to develop up to 4,000 quality homes, supported by new schools, roads and a local centre. It will be located on a 160 hectare site in South Dewsbury, on land to the south of Ravensthorpe and south-east of Mirfield. Read more
A new strategy aimed at helping the delivery of new development in Leeds has been launched at today’s Property Forum event. The Leeds Planning Protocol is joint work between Leeds City Council and West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, setting out a commitment to working together. It builds on existing good practice of engaging with communities and front-loading the planning process, and promises a more proactive approach to delivering good growth in Leeds. Read more

We are delighted to see that the Inspector has written to Kirklees Council supporting the proposed allocation at South Dewsbury as a significant Green Belt release. The £1 Billion scheme will deliver in the region of 4,000 new homes across a range of tenures and types and provide a major regeneration catalyst in an area that has suffered in recent years from a lack of significant private sector investment.
